HAND BLOCK PRINT

HAND-STAMPED • RICH COLORS • QUIET LUXURY

WHAT IS HAND BLOCK PRINT

Hand Block Print is a craft where artisans press hand-carved wooden blocks into dye and stamp them onto fabric to create repeating motifs. Each impression is placed by eye and hand, building the pattern one block at a time. The result is a distinctly human texture with slight, beautiful variations you can see and feel.

ORIGIN & HERITAGE

The technique traces back centuries across Rajasthan and Gujarat—traditions like Sanganeri, Bagru, and Ajrakh evolved signature motifs, color stories, and resist methods. Blocks are carved from teak or sheesham, then aligned carefully to maintain rhythm and repeat. It’s a slow craft passed through generations, celebrated for storytelling through pattern.

WHY IS IT SPECIAL

Every print carries subtle irregularities—tiny misalignments, ink pooling, soft fades—that prove a human touch and make each piece one-of-a-kind. Colors read deep and dimensional because dye sits on the surface as well as within the fibers. The look is artful yet versatile—equally at home in everyday settings or elevated spaces.

BENEFITS & CARE

Hand Block Printed fabrics feel personal, collectible, and timeless—perfect for those who value craft and character. Wash gently in cold water with mild detergent; wash darks and lights separately. Line-dry in shade, avoid bleach and high heat, and iron on reverse while slightly damp. Expect a little color release in the first few washes—this is normal for artisanal prints.
